Mammootty: I don’t compromise on my religious belief
The Malayalam Mammootty Superstar
He’s one of the busiest people in the Malayalam film industry, but superstar Mammootty doesn’t miss his Ramadan fast despite the workload.
âActing is my job and at the same time, I don’t compromise on my religious beliefs, so I do my job and I also do my duty as a Muslim. Over the years this has become a practice for me and I will be doing both very well, âMammootty told IANS.
Currently he is filming here for the film “Best Actor”.
Directed by fashion photographer-turned-director Martin Prakkat, the film will see the superstar as a teacher whose ultimate ambition is to star in films.
Salim Kumar, Lal, Nedumudi Venu and Suraj Venjaranmoodu are also part of the cast.
Mammootty’s own company, Play House, distributes the film, which is slated for release in October.
“The shooting ends and from there I move on to the bilingual Malayalam-Kannada ‘Shikari for which a filming round is completed. The second and final round will be shot in Shimoga,” said Mammootty who plays a dual role in the film.
But the two characters never meet in the film.
With Onam riding Ramadan, the release of Mammootty’s âPranchiyettan and The Saintâ had been delayed. Directed by Renjith, the film will be released next week coinciding with the end of the month of fasting and also its 57th birthday which falls on September 7th.
Mammootty’s latest film “Pokkiriraja” was a huge success and he hopes for the same success story of “Pranchiyettan and The Saint”.
